About WeGroup

WeGroup is an international InsurTech that supports insurance providers all over the world to better connect with their digital customers. One way in which WeGroup can achieve this is by allowing insurance brokers to gain a quick overview of a customer’s current policy in order to better understand their needs.

About the Project

The main objective of the project is to write a program to automatically extract insurance policy information from pictures or scanned PDFs of the policy. The full project pipeline will include the following:

Read in scans and images of insurance policies

Identify important policy information

 

 

Extract information vital for insurance brokers
(ex. cost, language, insurance type, etc.)

Information extracted from the policy will include everything from the contract start and termination date to the type of insurance the customer has, the insured risk, and covered guarantees.

Providing accurate and detailed information will allow insurance brokers using the WeGroup platform to quickly process and understand their customers’ insurance policies, thus enabling them to focus exclusively on the services they can offer to better their customers’ experince.

Pre-Project: Interviews

Students selected for an interview will be emailed on March 4 with their interview time slot. Each student will participate in a 15-minute individual interview and a 30-minute group case on the same day.

Pre-Project: First Teambuilding

Students selected to join a consulting project will be invited to meet their teams. We will organize an awesome evening with a dinner, a fun teambuilding activity, and some afterdrinks!

Week 1: Official Project Kick-Off

The projects will officially kick off on Mach 13! You will work with your team to gain a full understanding of your project requirements and set up your initial meetings with the client as well as the partner. Throughout this process, you will also have the support of an Emergent Project Lead.

Week 2: Partner Workshop

In the second week, you will meet with the industry partner who will be there to guide you and answer any technical questions about the project. In the first few weeks (based on student availability), the partner will also organize a technical workshop focused around a topic related to your project.

Week 3: Second Teambuilding

In Week 3, right before heading off to April Break, we will host a second teambuilding with another fun activity and some drinks!

Week 4: Mid-Term Check-In

After April Break, your team will catch up and resume working on the project. At the end of Week 4 (halfway through the project), your team will deliver a formal progress update to Emergent, the client, and the partner.

Week 8: Consulting Projects End Event

At the beginning of Week 8, each team will get an opportunity to present their projects and their consulting journey to an audience of clients, partners, and Emergent board members (friends and family welcome). The presentations will be followed by a reception to celebrate your success!

Week 8: Project Delivery

At the end of week 8, the projects will come to an end. Your team will deliver all documentation and code to the client and meet one last time to go over everything and answer any final client questions.
